Coin Silver 18s Hunting Case Pocket Watch Retailer Griswold Bros - A 19th-century American hunting case pocket watch manufactured by the Columbus Watch Co. of Columbus, Ohio, and retailed by Griswold Bros. of Hornellsville, New York. The 18-size coin silver case is stamped NEWPORT and COIN on the interior with serial number 637087. The case features floral and foliate engravings on the covers. The white enamel dial is signed GRISWOLD BROS. HORNELLSVILLE N.Y. and features black Roman numeral hour markers and a subsidiary seconds dial at the 6 o'clock position. The blued steel hands are in a spade style. The manual wind, full-plate mechanical movement is engraved Columbus Watch Co., Safety Pinion, Adjusted, and No 32063. The movement does not run. Size: 18s. The watch is in non-functional condition and does not run. The white enamel dial exhibits several faint hairline cracks, including one extending from the center toward the 4 o'clock position and another near the sub-seconds dial. There are visible specks of debris and oxidation on the dial surface. The coin silver case shows moderate to heavy surface wear, including scratches, tarnish, and minor indentations. The winding crown shows brassing where the base metal is visible through the plating. The movement shows signs of oxidation to the gilt finish.
