Bidspirit auction | 1967 Timex Viscount Self-Wind Automatic
1967 Timex Viscount Self-Wind Automatic Wristwatch - This is a vintage Timex Viscount automatic wristwatch, identified by the dial reference code as a model from 1967. The timepiece features a gold-tone base metal bezel with a stainless steel case back. The champagne sunburst dial is accented with a raised Arabic numeral at the 12 o'clock position and baton indices for the remaining hours. The dial is marked TIMEX below the 12 and SELF-WIND above the 6, with reference numbers 4047 and 3167 printed at the very bottom. It is powered by a caliber 31 self-winding mechanical movement. The case back is stamped with the brand name and specifications including SHOCK RESISTANT, SELF-WIND, STAINLESS STEEL BACK, BASE METAL BEZEL, and WATERPROOF. This watch is in running condition. Case diameter: 33.5 mm Lug-to-lug: 40 mm. The watch is in used vintage condition with visible signs of wear. The acrylic crystal is heavily scratched and scuffed across the surface. The gold-tone case shows significant brassing, where the plating has worn away on the lugs and sharp edges to expose the base metal beneath. There are various nicks and scratches throughout the case and the stainless steel back. The dial appears well-preserved with light age-related patina. The watch is offered as the head only, without a strap or spring bars. While the movement runs, it has not been tested for long-term timekeeping accuracy.
