Essex Crystal and Goldstone Double-Sided Windmill Watch Fob Charm - This Essex crystal watch fob charm is designed as a double-sided circular pendant set in gold-tone metal. The obverse features a domed Essex crystal covering a hand-painted miniature depiction of a Dutch windmill, rendered in shades of brown, yellow, blue, and orange. The miniature is set against an iridescent mother-of-pearl ground. The reverse features a circular cabochon of reddish-brown goldstone, also known as aventurine glass, displaying characteristic glittering copper-colored inclusions. The pendant is housed in a decorative bezel frame with a scalloped edge and fine incised geometric detailing. The piece is finished with an integrated suspension loop and an attached jump ring. A small, illegible mark is located on the inner curve of the jump ring. Diameter: Approximately 3/4 inch (19 mm) Total Length: Approximately 1 inch (25 mm). The charm is in good vintage condition. There is visible wear to the gold-tone plating on the high points of the scalloped border, exposing the darker base metal beneath. Light surface scratching is present on the glass cover and the goldstone cabochon. Minor tarnish and accumulated debris are visible along the seam where the two halves of the bezel join.
