E. Howard and Co. 18-Size Pocket Watch Movement and Dial Serial 60377 - This antique pocket watch movement and dial assembly was manufactured by E. Howard and Co. of Boston, Massachusetts. The movement is an 18-size split-plate design, featuring a bi-metallic compensation balance with gold timing screws and a micrometric regulator. The dial is white porcelain enamel with Roman numeral hour markers and a sunken sub-seconds register at the 6 o'clock position. The dial is marked E. HOWARD and CO. BOSTON. The movement plate is engraved with the maker name, the serial number 60377, and a stamped letter L. The regulator bridge features S and F markings for adjustment. Per specifications, this item needs battery. Dial diameter: 1.75 inches. The porcelain dial shows several prominent hairline cracks and crazing, notably one extending from the center toward the 2 o'clock numeral and another toward the sub-seconds dial. There is minor chipping at the outer edge of the dial. The movement plates exhibit surface oxidation and age-related tarnishing. The blued steel hands show minor surface wear. The assembly is missing its case, winding stem, and crown. The movement is untested for timekeeping accuracy.
