American Waltham Watch Co. Model 1891 0 Size Gold Filled Pendant Watch c. 1893 - An American Waltham Watch Co. Model 1891 lady's pendant watch. The manual wind, full plate movement features a gilt finish with damaskeened decoration and is marked Safety Barrel. The movement is engraved American Waltham Watch Co. with serial number 5887826, dating production to approximately 1893. The white enamel-style dial displays black Arabic numerals 1-12, a black outer minute track, and an interlaced AWCo monogram logo below the 12 o'clock position. It is fitted with two blued steel-style hands. The gold-filled case was produced by Joseph Fahys and Co. and is stamped Fahys 14K MONARCH and 857917 on the interior case back. The case rim is also stamped with matching serial number 857917. Several hand-scratched watchmaker service marks are visible on the inner rim. The watch is attached to a multi-strand tan textile cord lanyard with a knotted end. Diameter: Approximately 1.25 inches (32mm). The dial shows minor dust and light debris under the crystal, though the enamel surface appears intact without major visible hairlines. Hands exhibit significant oxidation and surface discoloration. The case displays moderate to heavy surface scratching and wear consistent with age and use, including rubbing to the gold-colored finish on the case back. The crystal shows light surface scratches. The movement gilt finish has oxidation and spotting; the movement appears complete, however, the working status is unknown and it has not been tested for timekeeping accuracy. The textile cord lanyard is heavily worn, frayed at the knotted end, and shows significant age-related discoloration.
