Illinois Springfield Watch Co Cowell and Hubbard Gold Filled Pocket Watch - A vintage open-face manual-wind pocket watch featuring a movement manufactured by the Illinois Springfield Watch Co. and retailed by The Cowell and Hubbard Co. of Cleveland, Ohio. The 17-jewel movement, serial number 3293255, is adjusted to four positions and features a double roller. The watch runs. The white porcelain enamel dial features black Arabic numerals, a sub-seconds dial at the six o'clock position, and outer red five-minute track markers. The movement is housed in a Wadsworth Pilot gold-filled case, serial number 3807866, which carries a 25-year manufacturer warranty. The case back is professionally engraved: Presented by the Cleveland Hardware Co. to Ordie Francis for twenty five years faithful service 1893-1918. Included is a gold-filled curb-link chain with a spring-ring clasp. Case diameter: 1.75 inches (44.5 mm). The porcelain enamel dial shows multiple prominent hairline cracks and crazing, notably between the seven and nine o'clock positions and near the center. The gold-filled case and chain exhibit general surface scratches, small indentations, and areas of wear and rubbing to the gold layer consistent with prolonged daily use.
