Elgin National Watch Co. 17 Jewel Adjusted 12 Size Open Face Pocket Watch, Does Not Run - An antique American open-face pocket watch manufactured by the Elgin National Watch Co. circa 1925. The size 12 nickel-finish movement is a Grade 387, featuring 17 jewels and adjusted to three positions. The movement bears serial number 27901545 and is housed in a gold-filled Victory grade case manufactured by the Philadelphia Watch Case Co. with case serial 4007974. The decorative silver-toned dial features a centrally engraved engine-turned pattern, black Arabic numeral hour markers, and a sub-seconds dial at the 6 o'clock position. The case perimeter and bow feature foliate engraving, while the case back retains a circular engine-turned design with a vacant central cartouche. The movement does not run. Case diameter: 1.75 inches (44 mm). Fair antique condition. The dial exhibits significant spotting, oxidation, and heavy patina throughout. The case shows heavy wear to the engine-turned engraving on the back and visible brassing on the high points, edges, crown, and bow. The crystal shows light surface scratches. The movement appears complete and clean but is currently non-functional and does not run.
