Illinois 16-Size Gold-Filled Open-Face Pocket Watch - An antique open-face pocket watch manufactured by the Illinois Watch Company. The watch features a gold-filled case with an engraved decorative monogram on the case back. The white porcelain enamel dial is designed in a railroad style with bold black Arabic numerals, a sunken sub-seconds track at the 6 o'clock position, and triangular hour markers. It is fitted with blued steel spade and whip hands. The timepiece operates via a manual pendant wind and set mechanism. The inner rim of the case is stamped with the serial number A05966. This watch runs. Diameter: 1 7/8 inches (48mm). The watch is in fair, aged condition. The gold-filled case shows significant brassing and wear-through to the base metal, particularly on the reverse and along the edges. The porcelain dial exhibits multiple hairline cracks, most notably a crack running from the center arbor through the 7 o'clock numeral, with additional hairlines near the 10 and 11 o'clock markers. The blued steel hands show heavy patina and oxidation. While the watch is in running condition, it has not been tested for long-term timekeeping accuracy or mechanical service history.
