A C. & E. Marshall Co. Vintage Watchmaker Staking Tool Set in Wooden Case - This vintage watchmaker staking tool set is manufactured by the C. & E. Marshall Co. of Chicago. The instrument consists of a chrome-plated staking tool stand with a wooden-encased vertical support, a rotating die plate featuring multiple apertures, and a lever-action plunger mechanism. The underside of the tool base is stamped with the serial number 20447. The kit is housed in a mahogany-stained wooden storage box with two hinged internal blocks for securing individual steel punches and stumps. A metal identification plaque inside the case reads C. & E. MARSHALL CO. Chicago and Principal Cities MADE IN U.S.A. The exterior latch is marked EAGLE LOCK CO. TERRYVILLE, CONN. MADE IN U.S.A. The set includes a collection of assorted steel punches and stumps, a group of loose tool tips, and a separately boxed Vigor-brand oblong anvil, model AN-111, marked as made in Japan. The wooden storage case shows moderate external wear, including surface scratches, scuffs, and areas of finish loss along the edges and on the interior surfaces. The chrome plating on the staking tool stand exhibits minor pitting and surface oxidation consistent with age. Many of the steel punches and stumps show light surface oxidation and evidence of prior use. The set is incomplete, as indicated by several vacant storage holes in the wooden internal blocks. The small Vigor cardboard box shows age-related wear but is intact. The mechanical plunger and rotating die plate function correctly.
