Waltham Model 1883 Open Face Lever Set Pocket Watch Serial 4946895 - This is a Waltham Model 1883 open face pocket watch featuring a manual wind, lever set movement. The movement is stamped with serial number 4946895, identifying it as a 7 jewel Grade No. 1 manufactured circa 1891. The movement is housed in a gold filled case produced by the Fahys Watch Case Co. under the Pioneer trade name, as evidenced by the internal case marking of a double banner with the word Pioneer. The white enamel dial features Roman numeral hour markers, an outer track with Arabic numerals at five minute intervals, and a sunken sub seconds dial at the 6 o'clock position. The movement is visible through a secondary internal crystal. Case diameter: 2 inches (51mm). The item is in fair to poor aesthetic condition and is sold as is for parts or restoration. The gold filled case shows heavy surface scratching, minor dents, and significant wear to the exterior plating with visible brassing. The attachment bow is missing. The primary crystal is heavily scratched. The white dial shows multiple fine hairline cracks, particularly between the 10 and 1 o'clock positions, and extensive surface soiling. The movement is visually dirty with signs of oxidation. The user indicates the watch needs a crown, and the functional status of the mechanical movement is unknown.
