American Waltham Watch Company Model 1883 Bond Street 18-Size Pocket Watch Movement with Commemorative 1898 Spanish-American War Hand-Painted Dial - A mechanical manual-wind pocket watch movement and dial produced by the American Waltham Watch Company of Waltham, Massachusetts. The movement is an 18-size Model 1883, Bond Street grade, featuring a gilt finish and safety pinion. The movement is engraved with the serial number 2652662 and the manufacturer marks A.W.W.Co. Waltham, Mass. and Bond St. The white enamel porcelain dial features black Roman numerals and a sunken sub-seconds dial. It is decorated with custom hand-painted folk art imagery commemorating the Spanish-American War. The central motif consists of crossed flags of the United States and Cuba flanking the date 1898. The dial is inscribed with W.W.Co. and the name Arthur Kent.... in stylized script. The sub-seconds dial includes the location Windsor.... N.Y. A stylized red letter G is positioned near the 3 o'clock mark. The hour, minute, and seconds hands are present. The item is currently uncased. Dial diameter: 1.75 inches. The movement is uncased and mechanical functionality is untested. The enamel dial exhibits several significant hairline cracks radiating from the center toward the 10 and 11 o'clock positions. There is a visible chip on the outer edge of the dial at the 9 o'clock position. Light surface oxidation and grime are present on the movement plates and the dial surface. The balance wheel and hairspring appear to be intact.
