Art Deco Engraved Nickel Open Face Pocket Watch - This Art Deco era open-face pocket watch was manufactured by the Elgin National Watch Co. and features a nickel case produced by the Illinois Watch Case Co. The silver-tone dial is finished with a vertical brushed texture and stylized black Arabic numeral hour markers. A recessed sub-seconds dial is positioned at 6 o'clock. The watch features blued-steel hands and an ornately engraved bezel and band with floral and scrollwork patterns. The manual wind movement is inscribed with the serial number 29797111, which dates the manufacture to approximately 1927. The movement is further marked Elgin Natl Watch Co. U.S.A. The inside of the case back is stamped Illinois Watch Case Co. Nickel with the case serial number 518298. Case size: 12s. This watch is not running and requires professional mechanical attention. The dial exhibits significant age-related wear, including spotting and discoloration across the surface. The crystal shows light surface scratches. The nickel case displays extensive scratching and scuffing on the reverse, along with a visible spot of verdigris oxidation. The movement plates show surface oxidation and accumulated grime.
