Vintage Elgin 10K RGP Men's Manual Wind Wristwatch Grade 554 Reference 6717 - This vintage men's wristwatch by the Elgin National Watch Company features a tonneau-shaped case with distinctive stylized lugs. The case construction includes a 10 karat rolled gold plate bezel and a base metal back, stamped with reference number 6717 and manufactured by Wadsworth. The cream-colored dial has developed a heavy patina and features applied gold-tone Arabic numeral indices, gold-tone hands, and a sunken sub-seconds register at the six o'clock position. It is powered by an Elgin Grade 554 manual wind movement featuring 15 jewels and 4 adjustments, with serial number H167234. The watch is presented on a heavily aged brown leather strap with a gold-tone pin buckle. Case size: 26mm excluding crown x 38mm lug-to-lug. Total length: Approximately 7.25 inches. The watch is in poor aesthetic condition and is suitable for parts or professional restoration. The crystal is severely damaged with multiple fractures and missing pieces along the edge. The dial shows heavy foxing and surface soiling throughout. Significant wear is present on the gold-plated case, including brassing and visible base metal on the lugs and edges. The leather strap is in a fragile, degraded state with prominent cracking. Per user notes, the movement runs, but the piece needs a replacement crystal and mechanical servicing.
