Lord Elgin 14K Gold Filled Rectangular Tank Watch with Hooded Lugs and Omega Band - A vintage manual wind wristwatch by the Elgin National Watch Company from the Lord Elgin flagship line, produced circa 1940s-1950s. The timepiece features a rectangular tank-style 14K gold filled case characterized by stepped, hooded lugs. The silver-toned dial displays the Lord Elgin signature and the stylized dp logo representing the DuraPower mainspring. It features applied gold-tone Arabic numerals and a sub-seconds dial located at the 6 o'clock position. The case back is stamped with a five-pointed star and 14K GOLD FILLED. The watch is fitted with a brown embossed leather strap which features interior gold stamping. Per user-provided information, the watch is equipped with an Omega band and is in running condition. Case width: 22mm (excluding crown) Lug-to-lug length: 38mm. The watch exhibits significant cosmetic wear commensurate with age. The dial shows heavy foxing and oxidation spotting across the surface with several fine scratches. The acrylic crystal is heavily scratched and displays surface crazing. The 14K gold filled case shows significant brassing and wear-through to the base metal on the high points of the lugs and corners. Green verdigris buildup is present at the strap interface. The leather strap is severely worn, brittle, and cracked. While the movement is reported to be running, it has not been tested for accuracy or power reserve and is sold as-is.
