Bidspirit auction | A Pair of Lionel Postwar

A Pair of Lionel Postwar O27 Gauge Steam Locomotive No. 2026 and Whistle Tender No. 2466WX - A pair of vintage postwar-era O27 gauge model train components manufactured by The Lionel Corporation of New York. This lot comprises a No. 2026 2-6-4 Prairie-style steam locomotive and a matching No. 2466WX whistle tender. The locomotive features a die-cast metal boiler shell and frame finished in black. Visual markings include silver printed 2026 numbering on both sides of the cab and an embossed metal plate on the motor frame underside reading: MADE IN U.S. OF AMERICA, LIONEL O27, THE LIONEL CORPORATION, N. Y. The matching tender features a black plastic shell mounted on a metal chassis. The sides are decorated with LIONEL LINES in silver-white lettering, and the model number 2466WX is stamped on the underside. The tender was originally designed to house an internal air whistle mechanism. Both pieces are in an unrestored state. The items are in as-found condition with a heavy accumulation of dust, dirt, and lint on all surfaces. The front pilot truck of the locomotive is detached and appears to have a broken or bent mounting bracket. The black paint on the die-cast boiler shows surface wear and minor chipping consistent with age and play. The tender shell exhibits surface scuffs, and there is a visible disconnected electrical wire on the underside. All mechanical components are untested and the items are sold in as-is condition. No original packaging is present.
