Lionel No. 2354 New York Central F3 Diesel Locomotive with Original Box - A Lionel postwar O-gauge electric model train locomotive, model number 2354, decorated for the New York Central road name. The locomotive features a plastic body shell mounted on a die-cast metal frame and chassis. This unit is equipped with dual motors and an internal battery-operated horn mechanism. Markings on the side of the body include New York Central in white lettering, with Built by Lionel and a GM logo printed on the rear quarter. The nose features the circular New York Central System logo and illuminated number boards displaying the digits 2354. The underside contains a metal battery cover plate inscribed with the following text: CAUTION TO OPERATE HORN INSERT A SIZE D FLASHLIGHT CELL HERE REMOVE CELL WHEN LOCOMOTIVE IS NOT IN USE. The lot includes the original Lionel orange and blue cardboard box, which is printed on the end flap with No. 2354T NEW YORK CENTRAL LIONEL. The locomotive is in good vintage condition showing moderate signs of play wear, including surface dust, light scratches, and small areas of paint loss on the nose and pilot. The plastic shell appears structurally sound without significant cracks. Dual horns are intact on the roof. The underside wheels and rollers show typical wear from track use. The internal dual motors and battery horn have not been tested for functionality. The original box is in fair condition, exhibiting significant age-related wear, surface staining, creasing, and tape residue. One end flap is partially detached with structural tearing, although all flaps are present.
