Antique Adlake Reliable Railroad Signal Lantern with Red Globe - This antique railroad signal lantern is an Adlake Reliable model manufactured by The Adams and Westlake Company. The item features a stamped steel frame with a protective wire cage and an integrated flat metal mounting bracket. The top cap is centrally embossed with THE ADAMS and WESTLAKE CO., ADLAKE, RELIABLE, NEW YORK CHICAGO PHILA. The rim of the cap contains several stamped patent dates: PATENTED MAY 31 1904, PATS JAN 26 1909 - NOV 23 1909, PAT NOV 28 1911 - 2 PATS JULY 2 1912, and PATENTS JULY 2 1912 APR 1 1913. The interior features a ruby red glass globe with embossed letters S, A, and F, along with the Corning Glass Works trademark. The base includes an original removable font and burner assembly. Height: 10 inches. The metal frame exhibits a heavy, dark patina with areas of surface oxidation and light rust. The structural integrity of the frame and bracket is intact. The red glass globe is damaged with multiple large, intersecting cracks across the surface.
