A Pair of Hand Blown Antique Spiral Optic Green Glass Lamp Shades - A matching pair of hand blown antique glass shades, likely intended for use as covers for gas or early electric lighting. Each piece is crafted from translucent yellowish-green glass, often associated with period chartreuse or olive tones. The shades feature a distinct spiral optic ribbing pattern, achieved by blowing the glass into a mold and twisting the gather. A prominent rough pontil scar is located at the crown of each shade, indicating where the piece was detached from the blowpipe. The bases are open and flared with ground edges. The glass displays characteristic imperfections of early manual production, including faint striations and small air bubbles trapped within the walls. Height: 4.75 inches Maximum Width: 4.5 inches Base Diameter: 3.5 inches. Both shades exhibit moderate surface wear and scratching consistent with age and previous use. There are visible small chips and fleabites along the bottom rims of both pieces. One shade shows localized brown residue or discoloration on the interior surface near the base. No structural cracks or repairs were observed.
