Late 20th Century Southwestern Style Malachite and Shell Inlay Butterfly Necklace - This double-strand pendant necklace is designed in a Southwestern style, featuring fine liquid silver-style tubular metal beads. The construction begins as a single strand at the clasp and splits into two decorative strands that form the front of the piece. The strands are accented with small, round, green-banded malachite beads and spherical silver-tone spacer beads. The central portion of the necklace is further decorated with cast metal beads shaped like roses and ribbed spacers flanking a central malachite bead. Suspended from the center is a butterfly-shaped pendant featuring iridescent blue-green shell inlay, characteristic of abalone or paua shell, set into a silver-tone metal frame. The necklace secures with a metal barrel screw clasp. There is a small rectangular mark located on the upper body of the butterfly pendant, though the characters are not clearly legible.
