Late 19th to Early 20th Century Victorian Style Oval Citrine Colored Stone and Gold-Toned Brooch - This Victorian-style oval brooch features a central, large faceted amber-colored stone, likely citrine or citrine-colored paste, set within a multi-layered decorative frame. The inner border is designed as a twisted rope bezel, while the outer frame consists of an ornate, openwork foliate design with scrolled and leaf-like elements. The brooch is composed of a yellow gold-toned metal. Visible green oxidation (verdigris) on the reverse side indicates a copper or brass base metal, suggesting the piece is gold-filled or gold-plated. The reverse side features a simple hinge and a traditional C-clasp mechanism. An indistinct, illegible stamped mark is present on the side of the hinge mechanism. Length: 1.25 inches (32 mm). The brooch is in good antique condition. There is visible green verdigris on the reverse of the metal frame and minor surface wear and tarnishing to the gold finish consistent with age. The central stone is secure in its setting, with minor wear to the facet edges visible upon close inspection. The pin and clasp are functional.
