1951 Bulova Academy Award 10K Gold Filled 21 Jewel Manual Wind Wristwatch with Original Presentation Case - This lot features a vintage 1951 Bulova Academy Award series wristwatch. The watch is housed in a 10K gold filled rectangular case characterized by tiered hooded lugs. The two-tone silvered and cream dial features raised gold-tone Arabic numerals and a rectangular sub-seconds dial at the 6 o'clock position. The manual-wind mechanical movement is marked Bulova Watch Co., 21 Jewels, caliber 7AA, with a square date code. The exterior case back is stamped 10K Gold Filled, Bulova, L1, and serial number 4760477. The interior case back is marked Bulova, Fifth Ave, New York. The crown is signed Bulova. Attached is a vintage Speidel gold-tone expansion bracelet. Included is the original Academy Award series presentation box, constructed of plastic with a gold-tone lid featuring an embossed Oscar figurine against a theater curtain backdrop. Also accompanying the watch is a vintage Your Bulova Guarantee booklet with a red decorative tassel. Case size: Approximately 21mm wide (excluding crown) by 38mm long (lug to lug). The watch is in used vintage condition. The gold filled case shows moderate wear and surface scratches, with significant plating loss on the corners of the hooded lugs. The crystal has several deep scratches. The dial displays age-related patina. The movement shows signs of dust and debris; the working status is unknown and the watch has not been tested for timekeeping accuracy. The Speidel expansion bracelet shows significant wear and plate loss.
