Vintage Baltic Amber and Sterling Silver Oval Rope Twist Brooch - This vintage brooch features a large oval cognac-colored Baltic amber cabochon. The gemstone is bezel-set within a silver-toned metal frame decorated with a classic rope-twist border. The amber exhibits numerous internal sun spangle inclusions, which are circular stress flakes characteristic of heat-treated Baltic amber. A notable internal fracture is visible near one edge of the stone. The reverse of the setting displays a significant dark patina and a simple hinged pin mechanism with a C-clasp. While faint marks are present on the pin stem, they are not legible. Based on market consensus for similar Baltic jewelry, the metal is identified as sterling silver. Length: 1.5 inches.
