Mounted Red Wax Seal Impression of Frederick of Baden Bishop of Utrecht - A mounted red wax seal impression of Frederick of Baden (1458–1517), who served as the Bishop of Utrecht from 1496 to 1517. The central motif depicts the Bishop seated in cathedra under an elaborate Gothic architectural canopy. The figure holds a crosier in his left hand. Below the Bishop is a heraldic shield featuring a bend, the coat of arms for the House of Baden. The perimeter of the seal contains a circumscription in Gothic minuscule reading S' frederici de baden. The seal is mounted to an off-white cardstock base. The front of the card contains handwritten ink inscriptions in Dutch reading Van Baden / Frederik at the top right and Bisschop van Utrecht 1509-'13 at the bottom. A purple ink stamp at the bottom left reads Arm Gen Blz. The reverse of the mounting card is repurposed from a printed Dutch funeral thank-you note dated February 1924 from Zevenhuizen. The text on the reverse acknowledges condolences for the passing of Gaspardine Cornelie van Thielen, widow of J. F. Klinkhamer. Seal diameter: 2.25 inches Card dimensions: 3.5 x 3.5 inches.
