Antique Dutch Wax Seal Impression of St. John the Evangelist, 's-Hertogenbosch Style - This item consists of a reddish-brown wax seal impression mounted on a repurposed paper card. The seal features a central figure, identified as St. John the Evangelist, the patron saint of 's-Hertogenbosch, standing beneath a Gothic architectural canopy. The figure is flanked by two heraldic shields: the left shield depicts an eagle, the symbol of St. John, while the right shield features horizontal bars. A circular legend in medieval Gothic textualis script surrounds the central imagery. The mounting card is a repurposed calendar leaf from January 1924, originally produced for De Nederlandsche Spaarkas (The Dutch Savings Bank) located at Keizersgracht 244, Amsterdam. Handwritten ink notations on the front of the card identify the subject and period: Bosch over 15e E. (indicating the 15th-century style of the original seal), Amelrici over Dni Johannes (Lord John), and S. Di. J. Siria comit palatini over (Buscoducis), the Latin name for 's-Hertogenbosch.
