c.1600's Generalite d'Orleans. French Legal Manuscript Document on Vellum. Orleans, - This item is a seventeenth-century French legal manuscript document executed on a single large sheet of parchment or vellum. The document is folded into four vertical panels and features text handwritten in brown ink in a French cursive chancery script. An official circular ink stamp is located at the top of the second panel from the right, identifying the document as originating from the Generalite d'Orleans. This stamp contains a central crest with a crown and fleur-de-lis, surrounded by the characters G, E, N, E, R, A, L, I, T, E on the left and O, R, L, E, A, N, S on the right. Additional text within the stamp includes Ponor., 10 s. les, and 2 Rolles. The manuscript includes the header Sainct Georges and the formal address Sire. Visible phrases in the body of the text include recollee nous faisant, ou appellation, suivant l'ordonnance, and Condamnons de payez.
