Hofkens, Magdalena. Last Will and Testament of Magdalena Hofkens (Notarized Extract). Jan Jacob Kruijder, 1772. (Signed) - This eighteenth-century manuscript document is an official notarized extract of the last will and testament of Magdalena Hofkens, widow of Frans van Oort. Drafted in Utrecht by notary Jan Jacob Kruijder, the document is dated July 31, 1771, with a final collation statement dated February 10, 1772. The manuscript is written in a clear Dutch secretarial hand on laid paper. It features embossed Dutch revenue stamps marked CLEIN for 10 Stuyvers, displaying the coat of arms of Holland. The text identifies prominent figures as executors and guardians, specifically Mr. Vincent van Eyk, a member of the Gouda city council and a director (bewindhebber) of the Dutch East India Company (VOC) Amsterdam chamber, and Mr. Martinus van Toulon of the Gouda city council. The final page bears the signature of Jan Jacob Kruijder accompanied by an elaborate calligraphic flourish. A small fragment of the original binding cord remains at the top corner.
