Antique Painted Bentwood Folk Art Bride's Box - This antique painted bentwood bride's box, also known as a spanschachtel and attributed to Swedish or Central European folk art traditions, is constructed from softwood with a traditional laced vertical seam. The exterior is finished in a weathered blue ground featuring hand-painted floral swags in white, red, and yellow with green foliage encircling both the base and the lid. The center of the lid is applied with a rectangular polychrome print depicting a park scene with figures in 18th-century style dress. The print includes titles in French (La promenade), German (Der Spaziergang.), and English (The walk). The interior reveals the natural wood grain and construction details.
