American Victorian Medallion Style Silver-Plated Hot Water Urn by I. T. Rice - An American Victorian silver-plated hot water urn in the Medallion style, manufactured by I. T. Rice of New York. The urn features an ovoid body centered by an applied cast medallion depicting a classical male profile in relief, surrounded by an engraved and beaded circular border. The body is further decorated with horizontal bands of foliate and geometric engraving. The vessel is flanked by two ornate scrolled handles with foliate joins and includes a removable domed cover topped with a cast floral finial. It is equipped with a functional spigot featuring a ribbed insulator handle. The urn sits upon a separate four-footed base with heavily cast rococo-style scrolls, leaves, and beaded cabochons. The underside of the base bears an oval-shaped stamp with I. T. RICE around the top inner curve and NEW YORK around the bottom. Hand-incised characters M over 571 are located above the maker's mark.
