The mount is prepared with a naturalistic, slightly open-mouthed expression, featuring thick dark brown to black fur and a lighter tan muzzle. Provenance documentation includes an official North American Bowhunting Big Game Records certificate from The Pope and Young Club. This certificate records a score of 18 3/16 for a black bear harvested at Murphy Lake, Quebec, on June 11, 2002, by bowhunter W. Dennis Showalter. The lot also includes a color photographic print depicting the hunter with the bear in a wooded setting, featuring handwritten notations identifying the location as Maniwaki, Quebec.
