End of Day Art Glass Whimsy Parade Cane Staff with Multicolor Spiral Design - A single free-blown glass parade staff or whimsy cane, consistent with ”End of Day” glass production techniques. The item features a long, tapered shaft with a tight helical wrap of opaque and translucent stripes in maroon/red, bright pink, yellow, cobalt blue, and white/clear glass. The top terminates in a large, spherical, bulbous bowl which maintains the colorful palette through swirled internal decoration and features intentional speckling or embedded frit within the clear glass sections. The opposite end of the shaft tapers to a narrow, open tip. This cane, along with others, was reportedly found in the basement of an old estate in Elmira, NY. The construction is hollow, typical of parade staffs designed as glass whimsies. No maker's marks or inscriptions are visible.
