Bidspirit auction | A Pair of Scottish Grouse

A Pair of Scottish Grouse Claw Brooches - A pair of traditional Scottish grouse claw brooches, often referred to as kilt pins, constructed from preserved animal paws or claws. The lot consists of two matching items. The primary brooch features a three-toed claw terminating in a conical silver-toned metal cap. This cap is engraved with decorative motifs resembling thistle or wheat and is set with a large, faceted amber-colored stone, likely glass or citrine. The reverse of the primary brooch features a pin-back closure stamped ”MADE IN GT. BRITAIN.” The second brooch is a simpler, longer, two-toed claw affixed with a plain silver-toned metal cap and pin-back closure. Both pieces display natural brown and cream-colored fur and feathers and are secured with a small, dark cabochon near the center of the paw.
