Ithaca NY Style 24 Gamewell Cast Iron Fire Alarm Box - Style 24 From Ithaca NY Alarm Box #56, from 800 South Plain St with Key Gurad. An antique Gamewell cast iron fire alarm box, likely dating to the early 20th century. The gabled-top box is finished in red paint and features a raised fist motif at its apex. Embossed instructions on the front panel read: ”FOR FIRE BREAK GLASS OPEN DOOR PULL HANDLE DOWN ONCE LET GO.” A small, house-shaped brass and white-painted housing is attached to the lower front, containing a brass pull mechanism. Below this is a metal plate bearing the number '56'. The main hinged door opens to reveal an internal white-painted panel with further instructions: ”PULL HOOK DOWN ONCE LET GO.” The manufacturer marking ”Gamewell Co. New York” is visible at the base.
