The box is predominantly painted in a heavily distressed red finish over a dark gray underlayer. The design features a recessed window where the primary activation lever is currently missing, and an external key-operated lock on the left. Raised lettering on the facade instructs: ”FIRE ALARM,” ”RAISE COVER,” and ”PULL LEVER.” Upon opening, the interior reveals mechanical components with additional text including ”NOT SET,” ”PULL DOWN,” ”AUXILIARY,” and ”WIND,” and an internal brass lock plate marked ”YALE” and ”YALE & TOWNE / STAMFORD CONN. U.S.A.”
