Oneonta NY Cast Iron Gamewell Fire Alarm Box - A vintage cast iron Gamewell fire alarm box, likely dating from the early to mid-20th century. The box is painted red with a peaked roof adorned with stylized white lightning bolts and a central fist motif. The front panel features raised white text reading ”FOR FIRE / BREAK THE GLASS / OPEN THE DOOR / PULL HOOK / DOWN ONCE / AND LET GO,” with the number ”413” displayed on a black and white plate below. The base is marked ”THE GAMEWELL CO. NEW YORK,” and a ”City of Oneonta” sticker is applied near the top. The outer door, complete with a key in its lock, opens to reveal an inner door. This inner door provides access to a complex clockwork mechanism featuring brass gears, an electromagnet, and a small bell, with internal components marked ”THE GAMEWELL CO. NEWTON, MASS.” The internal components appear largely intact, though dusty.
