A Collection of ”The American Horologist & Jeweler” Magazines and Related Periodicals, Mid-20th Century - A substantial collection of American printed periodicals and promotional materials. The majority consists of numerous issues of ”The American Horologist & Jeweler” magazine, identifiable by its varying colorful covers (orange, teal, green, pink, blue, black) and featuring visible publication dates ranging from the early 1950s (e.g., August 1953, 1954) through the late 1960s and early 1970s (e.g., October 1969, July 1970, March 1969). These trade publications, printed on paper, contain advertisements for watch bands (e.g., Jacoby-Bender), horological tools, business systems (e.g., C. & E. Marshall Co., July 1955), and watch brands (e.g., Elgin, Hamilton, Bulova), alongside articles on watch and jewelry repair, and historical horology. The collection also includes two distinct issues of ”Number Nine News,” one dated ”1926” with a bold red Art Deco-style design, and another earlier-looking edition (Volume 1, Number 2) with a green Art Nouveau illustration of trees, which appear to be local community or promotional newsletters featuring advertisements for confectionery, tobacco, and ”The Kensington Press Printers.” Additional smaller promotional brochures from ”S. LaRose, Inc.” (October 1969), ”NuVigor Mainspring,” and ”Vulcan” wrist alarms are also present.
