Victorian Tooled Leather Carte de Visite Album with Gilt Metal Mounts - An antique Victorian-era photograph album, bound in dark brown embossed leather featuring a central cartouche design and geometric and curvilinear motifs. The album is adorned with ornate gilt metal hardware, including decorative corner pieces and a functional clasp along the fore-edge. Its spine displays raised bands and the gilt-embossed title ”Photographs.” Internally, the album contains thick, cream-colored pages with gilt-lined, arched and oval cutouts designed to hold carte de visite or small cabinet card photographs. Many period photographs depicting various individuals in period attire are present within the album. The endpapers exhibit a repeating patterned design.
