The ensemble includes various early photographic formats such as daguerreotypes, ambrotypes, and tintypes, alongside several hand-colored prints or chromolithographs. The photographs are housed in an assortment of cases, including intricately embossed gutta-percha or thermoplastic ”union cases” and hinged leather-bound or papier-mâché cases.
