Portrait of a Gentleman with Landscape Pin, Oil on Canvas - Portrait of a Gentleman with Landscape Pin Oil on Canvas American, 19th C. appears to be unsigned. Sight: 29 1/2 x 24 1/4 in. (74.9 x 61.6 cm.), Frame: 37 x 32 in. (94 x 81.3 cm.) Condition: Relined. Newer frame. Craquelure throughout. U.V. inspection revealed scattered retouch. Has been conserved multiple times. There is a heavy layer of varnish. Retouch is on both sides of face and in hair. There is some inpainting on collar in craquelure/spidering lines. Some retouch on hand and in coat. Some surface abrasion and faint/light clouding in areas. Work could benefit from a cleaning and light restoration. Paint if flat due to relining.
