Schwarz & Son, Philadelphia, December 16, 1985 Literature: Illustrated in Philadelphia Collection XXIX plate #32 and 33. Sight: 14 x 41 1/2 in. (35.6 x 105.4 cm.), Frame: 18 3/4 x 46 1/2 in. (47.6 x 118.1 cm.) Condition: Probably Girolamo Gianni. Based on signatures of previously signed works they appear to be the work of Girolamo Gianni (1837-1895). Light craquelure throughout. Scratch and minor paint loss at top center edge. Small dimple with paint loss to left of small boat with three men and a sail at center right. U.V. inspection revealed light scattered retouch in sky and a tiny bit in the water. Minor flake/loss on upper left edge. Paint colors are very vibrant. Beautiful picture. Name tag on frame lacks pins/brads. Otherwise, good condition. Thank you for your interest in our upcoming sale.
