Early 19th C. New England Redware Covered Jar / Bean Pot, possibly Connecticut - Early 19th C. New England Redware Covered Jar / Bean Pot, possibly Connecticut Lead-glazed redware with overall green ground and abundant bright-orange spotting plus thick manganese splashes; highly ovoid form with tooled flaring rim having incised reeding, unusual round impressions stamped around shoulder, applied ear-shaped handle, unglazed foot. Early 19th century. Dimensions: 5 1/2” H, 3 1/2” D base. Condition: Pot: Very good condition with a 2” very tight hairline below handle, a network of surface-only firing lines in the glaze stemming from a potstone in body on right side, a few other glaze pops, and moderate roughness/shallow chipping to outer edge of foot. Cover: Excellent condition with a few shallow chips primarily to top surface. Provenance: The Stradling Study Collection. Phillips Auction (New York), 01/28/1999.
