East Liverpool, Ohio Flint-Enamel / Rockingham-Glazed Pottery Mug with Frog - East Liverpool, Ohio Flint-Enamel / Rockingham-Glazed Pottery Mug with Frog Drippy blue and brown Rockingham glaze over yellowware, wheel-thrown cylindrical body with pronounced foot and three bands of coggled zig-zag decoration, applied extruded handle with central ridge, molded and applied lanky frog on interior with additional blue glazing. Possibly Woodward, Blakeley & Co. Mid 19th century. Dimensions: 3 5/8” H, 4 3/4” D base. Condition: Undamaged. Frog's limbs dried too quickly and separated from the body during the firing, as made. Provenance: The Stradling Study Collection. Purchased from Phillip Bradley (Pennsylvania), 04/28/1975. Diana pictured a similar frog (turned into a paperweight) in ”Fancy Rockingham Pottery”, and a large-sized paperweight version sold in Crocker Farm's Spring 2022 auction, lot 395 (Stradling 2005, p. 95).
