(Brooklyn, NY) Pottery Vase / Covered Jar Lead-glazed white earthenware painted with windswept daisies in polychrome-enamels and thick gold paste; footed baluster-form body with cylindrical neck having an inset rim and matching round cover. Vase signed with blue inked ”F.M. Co.” monogram and numbered ”420”, also impressed ”409”; cover impressed ”408-9” to underside. Faience Manufacturing Co., Greenpoint, NY, probably under the direction of Edward Lycett. Circa 1886-1890. Dimensions: 6 3/4” H, 3 3/8” D base. Condition: Virtually undamaged with minor overall wear including a few insignificant losses to decoration on body and gilding on cover's finial. Provenance: The Stradling Study Collection. Purchased from Groundswell Antiques (New York), 10/09/1974.
