Rockingham-Glazed Figural Book Flask with Sprigged and Incised Decoration - Rockingham-Glazed Figural Book Flask with Sprigged and Incised Decoration Thick dark-brown Rockingham glaze over buff earthenware body, molded with inset covers and delineated pages, featuring all-over incised decoration, applied sprig-molded rose to front cover, and sunflower to rear cover, no signature located. American, probably mid 19th century. Dimensions: 5 1/8” H, 3 1/4” x 1 1/2” base. Condition: Undamaged. Provenance: The Stradling Study Collection. Phillips Auction (New York), 03/04/1981. Catalogue Note: An unusual and attractive piece of folk pottery made by an unknown potter at an unidentified pottery. The potter left hardly an inch of this flask undecorated.
