English Creamware Covered Sugar Bowl with Chinoiserie Motifs - English Creamware Covered Sugar Bowl with Chinoiserie Motifs Lead-glazed white earthenware, hemispherical footed form decorated with overglaze polychrome-enamel landscape scenes typically called the ”Chinese house pattern”, horizontally-applied extruded handles. Retaining original inset cover with compressed ball-form finial. Late 18th century. Dimensions: 4” H with cover, 2 1/8” D base. Condition: Bowl: Very minor losses/wear to decoration and a couple spots of staining on interior. Cover: One large chip/loss to lower flange with a 1” hairline associated, plus a few smaller chips in the same area, all with some minor staining traveling into the body. Provenance: The Stradling Study Collection. Purchased from Greg Kramer & Co. (Robesonia, Pennsylvania), 05/22/1992.
