Chippendale Carved Mahogany Side Chair - Chippendale Carved Mahogany Side Chair Attributed to Gilbert Ash, New York or New Jersey, 1760-1780. Provenance: Bernard and S. Dean Levy, New York 38 1/2 x 20 1/2 x 18 in. (97.8 x 52.1 x 45.7 cm.) Condition: Repair and possible patch to tip of crest. Crest has cloudy surface on face which can likely be cleaned off. Bruising and wear to splat. Some knee returns replaced. One side rail has old chip to underside. Shrinkage crack to top of one leg. Upholstery with light staining. No tears. Chair with general wear, bruising and abrasions consistent with age and use. Very sturdy, ready to be placed and presents nicely.
