George III Mahogany and Parcel Gilt Looking Glass - George III Mahogany and Parcel Gilt Looking Glass English, c. 1770 Provenance: Richard Lackman, Woods Edge Antiques, Shrewsbury, New Jersey Associations and Provenance: From the estate of Mary Eleanor (Suzi) Conover Sprankle who is related to the Conover family. The mirror has been in Monmouth County and in the Conover family for about 250 years. It descended from Warren Hartshorne Conover, (The architect of Monmouth County Historical Association) and his wife Annie Barkalow. Annie's parents were Eleanor Laird Barkalow and Joseph S. Conover. The mirror is mentioned in Eleanor L. Holmes' inventory (she married Charles L. Holmes after the death of Joseph S. Conover). In the inventory, the mirror is mentioned in the room of Will Holmes, her son and the first curator of MCHA. 28 3/4 x 17 in. (73 x 43.2 cm.)
