Two Cast Brass Trumpet-Base Mid-Drip Candlesticks - English, mid-17th C. The ribbed example retains traces of a touchmark stamped on the drip-pan. For a similar example stamped ”CA” within a lozenge on the drip-pan see Christopher Bangs ”The Lear Collection: A Study of Copper-Alloy Socket Candlesticks A.D. 200-1700,” p. 317, no 112. At least eight candlesticks of this form and bearing this mark have survived. Similar examples of both can be found in the V&A Museum.
