Smith & Wesson 2nd Model .38 D.A. Revolver
Offered for sale in this lot is a fine Smith & Wesson 2nd Model, Double-Action, Top-Break revolver, chambered for .38 S&W. The revolver utilizes a 3 1/4" round fully ribbed barrel, 5-shot cylinder, hard rubber "S&W" monogram grips, top break operation, and a double action trigger. The revolver is marked in numerous places, reading; "SMITH & WESSON SPRINGFIELD MASS. U.S.A. PAT'D JAN.17&24.65 - JULY 11.65. AUG. 24.69. JULY 25.71. DEC.2.79.MAY 11&25. 1880" on the top of the barrel rib, and showing matching serial numbers on the butt of the grips, on the back of the cylinder, and on the bottom of the top break latch. Overall, the revolver shows very good condition, with loss to the finish on the cylinder and the barrel. Mechanically the revolver has a working double-action, with good cylinder timing. As well, the revolver has a tight cylinder lock-up. The left grip shows a chip in the bottom and the hammer has been cut down. Serial Number: 44826. This firearm qualifies as an Antique, and does not require FFL Transfer or NICS Background Check.
