(Chabad) Beis Aharon Vehosafos – Author's handwritten dedication!! - Original Signature and Stamp
Vilna, 1880. First edition.
Beis Aharon Vehosafos, index of the Talmud and Midrashim on the Torah by Rabbi Avraham Dov Lavat Av Beit Din of Mykolaiv (Nikolaev). Approbation of Rebbe Shmuel of Lubavitch.
On the reverse of the title page is pasted a small paper with the author's original handwritten dedication to Rabbi Isser Horowitz (son of R. Schneur Zalman), thanking him for his support in publishing the sefer. The dedication is concluded with his original seal.
On the following page is the original signature of the author “Avraham David Lavat Rabbi of Mykolaiv” and his stamp.
Rabbi Avraham David Lavat (1815-1890), disciple of the “Tzemach Tzedek” and a leading Chabad rabbi and Chassid. Served in the rabbinate for forty years in the city of Mykolaiv, Kherson region. Author of “Sha’ar HaKollel” on the siddur of the Admor HaZaken, “Kav VeNaki” and “Beis Aharon Vehosafos”. His granddaughter, Rebbetzin Chana Schneerson was mother of the Lubavitcher Rebbe, who proofread his grandfather's books for "Kehas" Publications and wrote his biography in the introduction.
