The brilliant coloration and almost tribal arrangement distinguish it from the softer floral Oushaks more commonly encountered. Its generous 15-foot-6-inch length and bold graphic personality make it an exciting statement carpet that energizes both traditional and contemporary surroundings. Yes. The strongest museum comparison is a carpet at The Metropolitan Museum of Art dated 1774. The Met identifies it as a G?rdes-type prayer design with a stepped mihrab, columns, and suspended ornament, woven with silk and metal-wrapped silk thread alongside other materials. The Met also holds several eighteenth-century G?rdes prayer rugs, but most are woven primarily in wool.
